![]() ![]() It's obvious someone has done something to the ECU. When they do this, they pry on the 2 halves hard enough to damage the ECU case as you can see from the picture below. It's not as simple as just plugging in a couple wires to the pins and flashing an EPROM. ECUnleashed has to open up the ECU to do this. Fingers crossed.Īnd it will void your warranty.if they dealer finds out that is. They received my ECU yesterday, so hopefully I have it back some time next week. They told me not to worry, that it will be fixed and if not, they will pay for a new ECU from BMW. I emailed them both a video of my instrument cluster and described what it was doing and they said it needed to be re-flashed again. I called the dealer and he called ECUnleashed (it was at this time I found out that the dealer did not flash my ECU and that he mailed it to them.). When I plugged it in and tried to start the bike, the instrument cluster had all sorts of errors and flashing lights, as seen here: I can't honestly say that I have first hand experience as my ECU came back to me a dud. They do most of everything they advertise.at least that's what I'm lead to believe. They can increase your idle if you like (for race purposes). I believe they also remove any timing retarding. This is what I was told would be done to the map:Ĭlick to expand. He said good things about it and was one of the reasons I decided to try it, as see here (Post #49): Holy Cow.!!! - BARF - Bay Area Riders Forum and here. I believe one of our members, 100% (Wade), has had this done to his ECU. ![]() This is why it takes 10 days, because it gets shipped a few times before arriving back to you.Īs for the map that they install, there are some dealers that have before and after dyno graphs. They receive the ECU, they collect your information (mods, VIN #, ECU serial number, style of riding race or street, etc.), then once they have your info and ECU, the dealer mails it off to ECUnleashed and they flash your ECU, not the dealer. What they don't tell you is, the dealer doesn't actually flash the ECU. ![]() They claim it takes 10 days to flash because our ECU is much different than the Japanese ECU's.which I can believe that. Here is the way it works, a dealer for ECUnleashed sells you the service (I paid $549, not $449.I should have shopped around but this was before I knew better) and tells you they are going to flash your ECU with an awesome map. Maybe I can give you some insight as I am having this done.sort of. ![]()
